Great Black Wasp (Sphex pensylvanicus)
The larvae of digger wasps feed on living insects. Adult female sting prey and carry them back to their nests. The prey is paralyzed but can live for several weeks. Inside the nest, the female lays her eggs on the prey and leave them to hatch and devour the captured host.
